Government Contractors Business Forum Relaunches With Sneak Preview

The GCBF Kicks off its 2019 Program Series with Guest Speaker Shannon Andrews (City of Chicago CPO)

Anita J. Ponder

In partnership with Willis Tower’s Metropolitan Club, the newly reestablished Government Contractors Business Forum launches its Program Series Kickoff Wednesday, October 10th, at 233 South Wacker Drive from 5 – 7:30 P.M.

The Government Contractors Business Forum (GCBF) is bringing together Chicago’s top contractors with governmental agencies to help facilitate their continued growth and success in a constructive, bold and newly designed business environment at The Metropolitan in the Willis Tower.

The Government Contractors Business Forum helps our participating businesses to achieve three important objectives; 1) be more competitive and successful in the government bidding process; 2) comply with governing regulations, policies and legislation, including requirements to maximize the contract participation of minority and women-owned businesses; and 3) accelerate the growth and development of their businesses; create economic wealth; and invest more in their communities.

Anita J. Ponder, Chairman, President and Chief Association Executive

Participating businesses are invited to be a member of the GCBF and attend monthly meetings at The Metropolitan with key representatives of the City of Chicago and its sister agencies, Cook County, the State of Illinois and the federal government at monthly meetings during the annual membership period.

Meetings will keep GCBF members abreast of current and pending developments in government procurement regulations, policies, legislation, business resources, DBE/MBE/WBE participation requirements, and major bidding opportunities; and comply with governmental regulations governing the participation of government contractors.

The Kickoff event features City of Chicago Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) Shannon Andrews who is anticipated to speak on “New Developments and Opportunities to Partner with the City of Chicago in 2019.” Ms. Andrews was recently appointed CPO by Mayor Rahm Emmanuel, coming from the CPO position at Cook County where she presided since 2012.

The Government Contractors Business Forum (GCBF) is a distinguished business group of established government contractors and consultants in various industries that are seeking to increase their market share in the public sector by: strengthening their governmental and business relationships; obtaining current procurement, bidding and contract information; avoiding costly investigations which may result in civil and criminal penalties; and promoting the participation of minority and women-owned businesses on government contracts. The Forum, which started ten years ago, is chaired by Anita Ponder, an attorney, consultant and partner at the national, full-service law firm of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. (QPWB), the largest minority and women-owned law firm in the nation.
