Gospel Artist Sam Townsend Secures National Music Syndication Deal

New startup label SamLyric Inc. by Sam Townsend secures early success with music distribution deal and new wave of technology.

Comcast Entertainment in association with Universal Music Group has created a new format of music entertainment for mobile media and live-consumer marketing platforms that will launch in the Spring of 2012. Sam Townsend and his gospel chorale "Imani" is one of the first new acts to have secured a coop syndication deal for his forthcoming album project through the Comcast/Universal partnership.

Comcast Corporation, together with its subsidiaries, provides entertainment, information, and communications products and services in the United States and internationally. The company's Filmed Entertainment segment operates Universal Pictures, which produces, acquires, markets, and distributes filmed entertainment and stage plays worldwide in various media formats for theatrical, home entertainment, television, and other distribution platforms

Reverend Townsend, a Seattle native, recalls that his musical journey began at the age of three when he was often seen imitating the church organist. Growing up as a "PK" (pastor's kid) he assumed many roles in the church beginning at the age of ten and by thirteen directing the adult choir. By the time he was eighteen years old he had already executive produced his first independent live recording entitled Worship The Lord.

In July of 1996, Reverend Townsend formed the Imani Fellowship Choir. Their first CD recording, Remember Your Blessings, was released in 1999 with the widely acclaimed single I'm Blessed being released in 2004. The group has received numerous awards from Best Choir Director to Best Gospel Choir and Reverend Townsend has performed on stage for many national and international political dignitaries including Bishop Desmond Tutu and President Barack Obama.

Ad campaigns for the new artist and his music, facilitated by Manhattan-based firm Lewis Agency, will commence during February as Townsend's music will be featured in a variety of Black History programming.
