GlobalAustin Announces Christina Ceballos as Executive Director

GlobalAustin

GlobalAustin, a nonprofit that connects the world to Austin and Austin to the world, announced today Christina Ceballos as the organization’s incoming executive director, effective June 15, 2018.

Deepak Burman, president of the GlobalAustin board of directors, affirmed “Her leadership will strengthen our connections with the U.S. Department of State and our local community of citizen diplomats. Her commitment to cross-cultural exchange and non-profit management make her uniquely qualified to move the organization forward on the path of impact, growth and sustainability.”

Christina served two years as an agriculture extension agent with the U.S. Peace Corps in Kangaba, Mali, West Africa. She developed an HIV/AIDS training program for adolescents. The program was replicated nationwide across 80 districts through a partnership with Plan International – Mali. The program benefited 700 children annually. She worked as a fisheries research specialist for the Environmental Defense Fund and has worked extensively in education, serving as a program director for the Austin Independent School District, an adjunct professor in the Bill Munday School of Business at St. Edward’s University and the development and operations manager of EcoRise Youth Innovations.

“Christina’s experience in cross-cultural leadership, organizational development and project management will be a great asset to GlobalAustin. Her passion and experience will move GlobalAustin toward our organization’s vision - a peaceful, prosperous world through citizen diplomacy,” said Margie Kidd, outgoing executive director.
