Opportunity is ringing for Montgomery and surrounding area tech engineering students! The North American Network Operators Group's (NANOG) U Education Tour will take place from 19-20 Sept. The City of Montgomery will host the two-day empowering education and connection event at the Montgomery Multiplex at Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, AL.

Events like NANOG U are critical to the success of any aspiring technologist. Since its earliest inception in 1987, NANOG, a 501(c)(3) organization, has been committed to the ongoing advancement of an open, secure, and robust Internet.

"Technology moves fast, and schools often have difficulty keeping pace. So, not only do our events offer the latest, real-world practical information, but they also allow students access to seasoned industry professionals," NANOG Executive Director Edward McNair said.

From DDoS attacks to mitigation and network optimization, NANOG U will provide local tech engineering students with a competitive edge. Students will additionally have the opportunity to connect and engage with industry leaders while learning the latest Internet technologies.

NANOG U takes place each fall and spring at different locations throughout North America. However, this will be the first time it has taken place in Montgomery, AL.

"Having the City of Montgomery is what sets this event apart. The city's progressive vision allows us to reach a much broader and diverse audience. I genuinely applaud the Mayor's office's commitment to empowering their community," McNair continued.

Local colleges and universities are expected to attend. The list includes Tuskegee University, Trenholm State Community College, Faulkner University, Troy University, Auburn University at Montgomery, Alabama State University, and more.

NANOG is grateful to have this event supported by technology professionals from Akamai, Amazon, ARIN, ICANN, ISC, KAM Technologies, Microsoft, Mozilla, Netflix, Telstra, and QTS.
