From Grammys to Sitcoms
A platinum-selling musical artist produces comedy for social change.
Los Angeles, CA, February 27, 2016 (Newswire.com) - Ben Kasica, former lead guitarist for the band Skillet and executive producer at Skies Fall Media Group recently greenlit production on the pilot episode for the sitcom, Dad, Inc. The sitcom follows an awkward and out-of-work single-father starting a rent-a-dad agency that targets single-mother-led families. Teaming up with Kasica is Jack Roberts of the 2011 festival darling, The Rock’n’Roll Dreams of Duncan Christopher. Roberts created the concept and penned the script. While the production is still finalizing several key cast members, Roberts is set to play alongside Marshall Bell, known for classics like Stand by Me, Total Recall, and Starship Troopers, Julie Dray of the current BBC hit sitcom, Crashing, veteran actress Marem Hassler, and Aaron Moreland who worked with Roberts on Duncan Christopher.
Kasica founded Skies Fall Media Group with an ethos to challenge relevant social issues in an entertaining way. For the last seven years with offices in Los Angeles, Chicago, and the Milwaukee area, Kasica’s company focused primarily on branded content for fortune 500 companies like Intel, Jockey, GE and many more. In the last eighteen months, the company has progressively moved towards production of original content. They chose Dad, Inc. and partnering with Roberts’ company, 10,001, for more reasons than entertaining a broad audience.
For Ben Kasica and his Skies Fall Media Group, it isn’t enough to create media, they are bent on creating media that matters. “We believe Dad, Inc. is a great first step into the original content world by being both wildly entertaining, as well as, a potential platform to address the issue of fatherlessness facing our generation. Humor has a way of disarming us enough to talk about the harder things in life. It’s our hope that this series not only illuminates the issue, but possibly, inspires change,” Kasica said.
Dad, Inc. is slated to shoot in April of 2016 in Los Angeles.
