SEATTLE - JetCityOrange just released this year's collection of free calendars for 2012. [ www.JetCityOrange.com/calendar/ ] JetCityOrange is sharing a set of 3 photo calendars in PDF format again this year as a way of saying "Thanks!". All of the calendars are designed to be downloaded and printed on your inkjet or laser printer.

This year's calendars:

"Psychic Barber" features a photo of the neon sign at Rick's Barber Shop in West Seattle and a QR barcode that tangentially relates to the sign itself. The neon sign is real and yes there's a story behind it.

"Soup" is a still life photo with a message floating in a bowl of soup. The photo was done by madmoo. The QR code in the photograph is worth scanning and especially if you're hungry and like to cook.

"Cairn" is a simple and serene image of a cairn, the pile of stones used as a trail marker. Jerry is transfixed by cairns whenever he comes across one while hiking in the Cascades. (trivia: JetCityOrange began as a site called "The Cairn Project".)

JetCityOrange owner Jerry Whiting has been creating visually arresting calendars for the last 10 years for both JetCityOrange and Azalea Software, Inc [ www.azalea.com/calendar/ ]. The calendars in years past have been built around themes like neon signs, orchids, and graffiti. Originally they were printed calendars mailed to friends, family and business associates but the current depression forced a shift to PDFs to cut costs. The upside is that instead of a print run of 200, the calendars are now shared with the whole world on the internet.

"I miss doing large format calendars with a page for each month. I didn't want to walk away from this long standing tradition but the current economic depression means we all suffer at the hands of the 1%. Once #OccupyWallStreet is successful, I promise to resume printed calendars once again." says Jerry Whiting.

2012 is a Leap Year and this year's calendars have Easter eggs, visual puns, and poorly hidden secret messages in them. Even the PDF files themselves have links to web pages you can click on.

Download one or download them all. Link to them on Facebook, tweet about how much you love them, email the link to friends and family alike. The web page explains how to force full bleeds on Epson inkjet printers to accommodate the calendars' design. Or you can walk a flashdrive to a copy shop and pay for a high quality print. And don't forget Miranda & Jerry's birthdays (3/1 & 12/12 respectively).
