Frank C. Fisher: U.S. Shale Boom Offers Myriad Benefits
Online, July 20, 2012 (Newswire.com) - The natural gas boom that has led to a surplus of the fuel and lower gas prices is now showing signs of greater promise in terms of the American economy. According to a recent report from The Financial Times, a new study by energy group, IHS anticipates that approximately 455,000 jobs will be created as a result of the "unconventional gas revolution." While these direct and indirect employment opportunities are expected to be greatest in states where natural gas production is high, there are indications of further development. Frank C. Fisher , analyst of the oil and gas market, offers further insight on the benefits of shale gas exploration and production.
Frank C. Fisher currently acts as the Senior Consultant for Aztec Oil & Gas Inc. and while Aztec focuses primarily on oil, has seen this natural gas growth firsthand through the company's work in Texas. Texas is one of the primary states that the referenced article indicates will benefit from job creation related to natural gas expansion. Other primary states include Pennsylvania, Colorado and Louisiana - all four states are projected to offer more than half of the anticipated job opportunities. "Texas is already bringing these numbers to life and is leading the industry with 97,000 new jobs already created," notes Fisher.
"What is really incredible about the IHS study is that this growth is being recorded in states where natural gas production was relatively low until recent developments," comments Frank C. Fisher. Pennsylvania is one example of such growth, as the article reports little natural gas development in the state until the exploration of the noted Marcellus Shale. Fisher explains that new technologies in shale gas drilling methods are what have helped unlock reserves in previously ignored areas. He observes, "The natural gas revolution has shown the benefits of innovation, and with more jobs coming out of the success, there is going to be so much more progress ahead."
The development not only offers new career opportunities, but also energy security for the country. John Larson of the IHS told The Financial Times, "We are creating geographic diversity, which should, for example, help guard against the effect of hurricanes in the Gulf of Mexico." Frank C. Fisher concludes, "It is very important for every entity involved in the development of natural gas to contribute to a strong foundation on which the new resource can develop. These efforts, such as spreading production across the country, will help America take advantage of previously unexplored wealth. Taking the industry and thinking of it as a whole, rather than through corporate interests alone, will help ensure natural gas production has a safe and bright future."
