Foothills Community Workshop welcomes the public to it's second annual Christmas Open House on Saturday, December 15th from 10am to 6pm.

Electronics, machining, woodworking, games, and a model railroad are open for everyone to enjoy. There will be many displays, demos, and activities for all. Complementary snacks and beverages will be provided.

As a special treat, Santa and his sleigh will be visiting during the open house for kids to have free pictures sitting with Santa in the sleigh.

The Foothills Community Workshop (FCW) is a group of people who enjoy making things, discovering how things work, creating new projects, and sharing skills and knowledge with others. We are classified as a Hackerspace. We have members skilled in machining
(manual and CNC), metal working, electronics, robotics, programming, radio, computers, woodworking, model building,
and model railroads.

A hackerspace or hackspace (also referred to as a hacklab, makerspace or creative space) is a location where people with common interests, often in computers, technology, science, or digital or electronic art (but also in many other realms) can meet, socialize and/or collaborate. Hackerspaces can be viewed as open community labs incorporating elements of machine shops, workshops and/or studios where people can come together to share resources and knowledge to build and make things.

FCW is funded by membership fees. There are also charter members who provided additional startup funding. Your donations are accepted.

FCW is located at 12 Falls Avenue in Granite Falls, in the old Shuford Mills complex. Directions can be found on http://www.foothillscommunityworkshop.org or by calling (828) 351-4225.
