Football Fanatics Pledges to Raise Awareness for the Fight Against Cancer with I Love College Hoops Partnership

Coaches vs. Cancer and Football Fanatics are partnering to help raise awareness for the fight against cancer. This week is Beat Cancer Week and fans, players and coaches are encouraged to wear special I Love College Hoops headbands.

Football Fanatics pledges their support of the fight against cancer by joining forces with the I Love College Hoops program, presented by Coaches vs. Cancer.

The Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC) is partnering with the American Cancer society and Coaches vs. Cancer to combine the "love" of college hoops with the fight against cancer. Events to raise awareness tipped off Saturday, January 30, with the Suits and Sneakers Awareness Weekend where college coaches and members of their staff were encouraged to wear sneakers with their suits to all games during that weekend. The closing event for I Love College Hoops 2010 will occur the week of February 21 through February 28 with Love College Hoops...Beat Cancer Week. During this week, fans, players and coaches are encouraged to wear special I Love College Hoops headbands, which are available for many teams and can be purchased at various retailers.

"We are grateful and honored that many important companies are making the effort to get involved and raise awareness for the fight against cancer through the promotion of our cause and selling of products," said Tim Hawks, Director of Special Projects for The Collegiate Licensing Company. "We are encouraging all communities to do their part in raising awareness because a collaborative effort is the only force we have to help prevent cancer until we find a cure."

Beat Cancer Week will now be an annual event. Special headbands can be purchased at designated retailers including online at http://footballfanatics.com. I Love College Hoops T-shirts for various teams in support of the program can also be purchased. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of special merchandise during the month of February will be donated to the Coaches vs. Cancer program.

"We are proud to support this cause for the second year in a row and intend to continue to support it in the future," remarked Brian Lemmey, Director of Marketing for Football Fanatics. "We look forward to the opportunities this partnership can bring and the awareness we can help raise."
