First Certified Autism Center™ in South America Announced
CUSCO, Peru, September 16, 2019 (Newswire.com) - Juve Travel Peru is the first organization in South America to become a Certified Autism Center™ (CAC). The CAC designation is awarded by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education (IBCCES) to organizations that have completed a training and review process and are committed to serving individuals with autism and other sensory needs.
Travel and new experiences can be one of the most intellectually stimulating events for individuals on the autism spectrum, yet there are still few trained and certified travel options for families looking for destinations able to accommodate their needs. Organizations like IBCCES and industry leaders such as Juve Travel Peru are working to change that.
“This training is opening my eyes and heart in ways I have never experienced before. I have guided blind people and deaf people ... but this is a whole new world!” said CEO, Juvenal Iturriaga Baca. “I am excited about meeting these people and sharing the beauty and culture of this part of Peru. Juve Travel Peru is very proud to be the first CAC in South America.”
Juve Travel Peru is located in the capital of the Incas, Cusco, Peru. This adventure travel company has a team of experienced local guides and offers a variety of treks and tours. Their team is dedicated to bringing authentic, personal, travel experiences to all explorers who are drawn to discover the history, culture, customs and traditions of Peru. Operating with high sustainability standards, Juve Travel Peru designates at least 5% of profits to local educational and community causes.
“Our commitment to delivering the global standard for training and certification in the field of cognitive disorders continues to take IBCCES to new places. Through this designation, Juve Travel Peru will be able to provide a tailored experience to visitors with various needs,” said Myron Pincomb, IBCCES Board Chairman.
For almost 20 years, IBCCES has been the industry leader in autism training for licensed healthcare professionals and educators around the globe. IBCCES recognized that many families with children who have special needs have limited travel options. In response to this need, IBCCES created training and certification programs specifically for the hospitality and travel industry. With research suggesting that one in every six children experience sensory needs or sensitivities, the case for obtaining professional certification and providing accommodations is clear.
IBCCES also created AutismTravel.com, a free online resource for parents that lists certified destinations and connects families to other resources and each other. Each destination listed on the site has met Certified Autism Center™ (CAC) requirements.
