Final Reminder: 2014 Insurance Deadline Approaching
Online, March 4, 2014 (Newswire.com) - The federal Affordable Care Act stipulates that most Americans must be enrolled in an approved healthcare plan prior to March 31, 2014, or incur financial penalties ranging from $95 to 1 percent of income. Approved healthcare plans may be obtained either through an employer or through the government marketplace found at healthcare.gov. Individuals that are not yet in compliance with this mandate are encouraged to contact Don Allred Insurance Agency immediately to set up an appointment for enrollment assistance.
Don Allred Insurance Agency spokesman Scott Allred notes that his team has already helped many customers successfully file applications and obtain the best healthcare coverage they can afford.
"Our agents have been through the application process countless times by now, and know exactly what kind of information must be included on every form," Mr. Allred says. "We have the experience necessary to navigate customers through the paperwork quickly and accurately so they can beat the deadline."
Although much has been made in the media about the financial penalties for missing the March 31 deadline, Mr. Allred believes there is a bigger issue involved.
"A more worrisome aspect of someone missing the deadline is the fact that they'll then have to wait until January 2015 to obtain coverage," Mr. Allred explains. "Remaining uninsured for that long is never a smart move, even for those that are relatively young and healthy. A catastrophic illness or accident might happen anytime and would almost certainly have a devastating financial impact on someone without insurance."
Mr. Allred urges people not to wait until the last minute to obtain the minimum essential coverage required by the ACA.
"We've all heard about the website glitches that have either delayed or prevented people from buying insurance," he says. "The closer we get to the deadline, the more traffic that site is going to receive and the greater the chance of mishaps. Come in and talk to our insurance specialists as soon as possible so we can take care of the enrollment process for you."
