Federation of Asian Biotech Associations (FABA) Special Award 2011 Announced
Online, January 18, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Dr. Davinder S. Brar, chairman, GVK Biosciences Pvt. Ltd. and Dr. Roger L. Williams, CEO, United States Pharmacopeia (USP) are the proud recipients of Federation of Asian Biotech Associations (FABA) Special Award 2011. The awards will be presented to them on the inaugural day of BioAsia 2011 on February 22, 2011 in the city.
FABA instituted the "FABA Special Award" in the year 2010 for recognizing outstanding scientists / entrepreneurs who have made significant contributions in any branch of life science for the benefit of the biotech / pharma industry. The first FABA special award was conferred upon Dr. Ajit Shetty, director, Johnson & Johnson Ltd. "The awardees were chosen by an expert selection committee convened by the FABA Management and the decision was taken after considering atleast 20 top names in the biopharma arena in light of their extraordinary contributions to the bio-pharma sector," said Dr. B S Bajaj, convener, BioAsia 2011.
About Dr. Davinder S. Brar:
Davinder S. Brar is the Promoter Chairman of GVK Biosciences since 2004. He has 30 years of experience in the pharma/life sciences industry. He played a significant role in building Ranbaxy into a globally recognized generics company with a pipeline of specialty and innovator drugs. He is also involved with several international pharma/life sciences companies in consulting/advisory role.
About Dr. Roger L. Williams:
Dr. Roger L. Williams provides strategic leadership for USP. He also serves as chair of the Council of Experts, USP's scientific standards-setting body, which continuously revises the United States Pharmacopeia, National Formulary, and Food Chemicals Codex. Dr. Williams leads USP's outreach efforts to many national and international bodies that share USP's public health mission. Prior to USP, Dr. Williams worked in the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
