Famous Smoke Shop Debuts Crux Union Fire Cigars in an Exclusive Release

EASTON, Pa., May 3, 2019 (Newswire.com) - ​Famous Smoke Shop, the nation’s #1 discount retailer of premium cigars online, has collaborated with Crux Cigars for the exclusive release of the Crux Union Fire Cigars selection. Presented in three popular shapes, Crux Union Fire pays homage to the nation's very first volunteer fire company.

Formed in 1736 with the assistance of Benjamin Franklin, Philadelphia's Union Fire Company was better known as the "Bucket Brigade." The company was an invaluable addition to the city, since even a small fire could rage quickly out of control in the community's numerous wooden buildings. Using leather buckets, a few hooks, and some ladders, the success of the Union Fire Company inspired the formation of even more colonial volunteer fire companies.

According to a 2011 study by the American Journal of Industrial Medicine, on average, 32% of career and volunteer firefighters combined enjoy an occasional cigar during their downtime while on duty.

By partnering with Famous to create this cigar, Crux Cigars President, Jeff Haugen said everyone involved felt it was important to link their project to Pennsylvania history: "After some research, we decided the history of the Union Fire Company was a perfect match for a new cigar line. The cigar itself is a rich and smoky blend of Nicaragua tobacco," said Haugen.

Crux Union Fire cigars were handcrafted for Crux by Plasencia Cigars with a core of perfectly-aged Nicaraguan and Dominican long-fillers in a Connecticut Broadleaf binder, and deftly rolled in a proprietary, Nicaraguan Enganoso wrapper leaf grown on Plascencia's estate farms in Esteli. Crux secured the exclusive rights to the wrapper from Plasencia in 2012 and has used it on other upscale selections like the Crux Limitada PB5.

Medium in body, additional flavors found in the pre-release samples were a savory nuttiness, plus minty and floral notes on a sweet finish.
