"Eyeball Story" From Treetop Films Announced
Online, March 15, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Treetop Films has signed two veteran character actors Steven Bauer (Scarface, Traffic) and Vinny Vella (Casino, The Sopranos) to showcase performances in a bizarre tale depicting an explosive confrontation in a storefront social club in South Brooklyn.
The short film entitled "The Eyeball Story" is drawn from "The Heist Broker", novelist Stewart Meyer's true-life account of a three million dollar robbery at the World Trade Center planned against the deteriorating backdrop of South Brooklyn's gritty organized crime scene. Based on first hand accounts, "Heist Broker" tells the story of a self-effacing maintenance supervisor who rescued a dozen people from the World Trade Center when it was bombed in 1993- and 5 years later masterminded the most notorious heist of the '90s.
On board "The Eyeball Story" include producers Matthew Mark Meyer, David Karges and Lee Douglass, and film director David Schmidlapp.
Plans are also underway to turn "Heist Broker" into a feature film. Treetop has launched a fundraising campaign to meet this challenge which will include holding a Celebrity Red Carpet Salon in early May to attract potential investors. This exclusive industry event will feature a reading of selected excerpts from "The Heist Broker" by Stewart Meyer and a reading of "The Eyeball Story" by the cast.
"The Eyeball Story" is slated to be shot this Spring. Treetop anticipates "The Heist Broker" will begin production in early 2011.
