Explore Titanic Website Is Launched To Offer A Free Medium Of Information For Adults & Students Alike
Online, January 12, 2012 (Newswire.com) - On April 14th 1912 the RMS Titanic, then one of the largest passenger liners in the world, struck an iceberg in the North Atlantic ocean at 23:30pm, causing her to sink some 2 and a half hours later. Now, it's coming up to the 100th anniversary of the sinking of Titanic and to mark this ocassion lifelong Titanic enthusiast, Ben Johnson, has launced an online resource as a medium for his interest and to give others a chance to increase their own knowledge.
The website, "Explore Titanic" is a place for online users to view a complete history of the Titanic right through from conception and design to construction, sinking and her wreckage. In addition to that this web resource also details the history of Titanic's less well known sister ships, their lifetspan and their ultimate fate.
We caught up with Ben Johnson just a few days a go and took the opportunity to find out what inspired him to create this new online resource. Mr Johnson said "Ever since I've been a child an I heard about the story I've Titanic, I've been hooked. I can remember the first book I owned as well as the first model I built. This lifelong interest had given me a good overall knowledge of Titanic and her sister ships and I take great pleasure in sharing this known weith others."
Mr Johnson also went on to say that "I hope the resource will act as a place of educational value for students and adults alike to gain further understanding of the Titanic and her less well known sister ships."
With the 100th anniversary of Titanic just 3 months away there is sure to be an increased interest in her and her history. For that reason "Explore Titanic" seems like it might be a welcomed addition to the marketplace.
