At a recent Press Release, the CEO of the organization spoke about the various types of trucks available in the market. He said, “There is a huge demand for trucks today. With the industries growing, the infrastructure and logistics demands have also increased. Vehicle manufacturers are building a range of trucks to suit the varied needs and budgets of their clients.”

He highlighted the various types of trucks, and classified them into very heavy, heavy, medium, light, and small ones. He explained the difference between each, and said, “I would start talking about the small trucks first. Small Commercial Vehicles (SCV) have an engine lower than 1000cc and their weight is below 3.5 tonnes. The light trucks weigh below 6350 Kgs and have a payload capacity of 1814 Kgs or less. The medium trucks weigh from 6351 to 11793 kgs, heavy ones weigh from 11794 to 14969 Kgs, and the very heavy ones weigh above 14970 kgs.”

He explained each of these in detail, and said, “Small trucks such as the Tata Ace are common today. The light trucks are larger than the small trucks, and have an engine & wheelbase smaller than the medium truck. As compared to the heavier trucks, the light ones are more fuel-efficient. Sport Utility Vehicles, canopy express, minivans, panel wagons, cab-forward, tow vehicles, pickup automobiles, sedan delivery, and panel vans are great examples of light trucks. These are less expensive as compared to the other varieties.”

Talking about the medium trucks, he said, “Medium trucks are usually used as delivery carriages, bottlers, and multi-stop carts. These are divided into class 4, 5, and 6, based on their GVWR or Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.”

Next, he spoke about the heavy and very heavy trucks. He said, “Heavy trucks comprise of class 7 and 8 vehicles. Concrete transport trucks, cement mixers, mobile cranes, dump lorries, garbage carriages, log carriers, refrigerator carriers, tank vehicles, and tractor units are the common varieties of heavy trucks. The very heavy trucks include ballast tractors, haul trucks, and heavy haulers. Buy the truck best suited to you, based on your requirement and budget!”
