Experienced Higher Education Leader Joins Campus to Head Partner Success and Support

Denver-based student portal and mobile-app company adds Steve Rheinschmidt to senior management team, expanding its group of academic, education experts helping colleges and universities connect people, information and systems across the student lifecycle.

Steven Rheinschmidt

Earlier this month, Campus announced a key expansion of its senior management team, as well as partner success operations with the hiring of Steve Rheinschmidt, former Director of the Iowa Community College Online Consortium (ICCOC), strategist and consultant with Pearson Learning, and most recently as the Director of Learning Innovation at Saint Leo University. Steve joins the team as Director of Partner Success.

A nationally recognized expert in student success, pioneering data and analytics for student success, as well as a respected operational executive, Mr. Rheinschmidt bolsters Campus’ institutional administration expertise, helping partners implement, grow, and strategize for success with students, staff, faculty, and beyond.

Steve knows student success, student affairs, admissions, enrollment and marketing having worked in the trenches for a long time, which makes his work with retention, academic quality, and project management for education technology so much more powerful.

Dr. Jeff D. Borden, Chief Academic Officer, Campus

“I couldn’t be more excited as Steve is the ultimate ‘utility’ player,” said Dr. Jeff D. Borden, Chief Academic Officer at Campus and Executive Director of the Institute for Inter-Connected Education. “Steve knows student success, student affairs, admissions, enrollment and marketing having worked in the trenches for a long time, which makes his work with retention, academic quality, and project management for education technology so much more powerful. I was lucky enough to have wooed Steve to join me at Saint Leo and now we’re together again, showing people how to impact enrollment, retention, and even alumni affinity, at scale.”

The addition of Mr. Rheinschmidt represents a strategic decision to move beyond promoting education technology from a “tech” or even a “cool” position, but instead help fix and even transform the very essence of higher education from the position of experts who have worked over their careers to do exactly that. Steve will only reinforce Campus’ world-class technology, modern user experience, omni-channel system, and hyper-connected platform with implementation, subject matter, operational, and change management expertise so as to support multiple initiatives at almost every institution.

During his time at the ICCOC, the online classes for the 7-campus consortium not only grew from a few thousand students to more than 80,000, but the organization experienced nationwide recognition for its pioneering efforts to use data and analytics.  Through improved persistence workflows, by removing barriers to learning, and through concerted faculty development and enrichment strategies, retention rates achieved double-digit increases. Leveraging that experience, Steve helped Saint Leo University create a learning ecosystem designed to improve upon those past successes, actually implementing the Campus platform for local, center, and completely online students, faculty, and staff.

“Student Services is in my DNA,” notes Rheinschmidt. “I started my higher education career in admissions, academic advising and marketing. Later, I was a very early provider of online student services and eventually led a successful online learning consortium. I’ve always been passionate about the student experience. Students are our best marketers. When we provide students with a positive experience, they recruit their friends and family. At Campus, I get to continue to positively impact the student experience in deep and meaningful ways.”

Campus looks forward to the next phase of this academic administrator’s career path, helping partners be more successful in operations, implementation, and strategic planning. Mr. Rheinschmidt will bring a strong vision, mission, and practical voice to the senior management team which already has over 100 years of academic administration experience collectively.
