Essex Based Company Swiftclean UK Commit to Energy Saving Measures
Online, March 5, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Essex based company Swiftclean UK is committed to creating a greener future. The company has recently installed new double glazed windows and a low energy lighting system with movement sensors at its head office. The two measures have together helped to reduce Swiftclean's annual electricity consumption by 13,074 kWh and will also save 10,747 units of gas each year. The company estimates this will save over Ј2,000 a year in running costs and, more importantly, will reduce its carbon footprint by 8.84 tonnes of CO2 each year. The Benfleet-based Low Carbon Business Programme assisted Swiftclean in the application for a European Regional Development Fund grant towards the overall cost of the project.
In addition Swiftclean have based their staff regionally which cuts down on transport costs and reduces their Carbon emissions further. All processes have been digitalised to cut down on paper and solar power is being researched and could be implemented in the near future.
Swiftclean's work includes legionella control, specialist cleaning of ventilation systems and fire safety extract ductwork cleaning. Cleaner ductwork and fans helps to make ducted systems more energy efficient, reducing electricity bills for Swiftclean's customers. The company also helps clients to manage grease waste in commercial kitchens, preventing it from entering the sewage system where it can cause blockages.
"Much of what we do helps our clients to ensure that their business activity makes as little environmental impact as possible, so we wanted to be sure that we were doing the same at our own premises," says Managing Director Gary Nicholls. "We were delighted that accessing a European Regional Development Fund grant allowed us to make this upgrade, which helps us to be even greener than before."
