Ervin R. Stutzman, Accomplished Author and Executive Director of Mennonite Church USA, Will Be in Conversation at East Petersburg Mennonite Church
Online, March 17, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Ervin R. Stutzman, who serves as Executive Director of Mennonite Church USA and is an accomplished author, will be speaking at East Petersburg Mennonite Church on Sunday, April 6th at 7pm.
Ervin R. Stutzman will be discussing the topic of his new book "Discerning God's Will Together: Biblical Interpretation in the Free Church Tradition," which was recently released by Cascadia Publishing. In this book, Stutzman explores his understanding of communal forms of biblical interpretation. He also outlines guidance and discernment for today's challenging ethical and theological riddles.
Also, he will be discussing his most recent book "Jacob's Choice," which was released through Herald Press/MennoMedia. Based on actual events, Ervin explores a ancestor's commitment to pacifism that leads him through a season of captivity, a complicated romance, an unrelenting search for missing family members, and an astounding act of forgiveness and reconciliation. Ervin Stutzman has served as pastor, district overseer, missions administrator, Lancaster Mennonite Conference moderator, and moderator for Mennonite Church USA. Many of those roles he served in the Lancaster Pennsylvania area. Previously, he has also served as a professor and Dean at Eastern Mennonite Seminary in Harrisonburg Virginia. He received his Ph.D. from Temple University and holds Masters degrees from the University of Cincinnati and Eastern Mennonite Seminary.
Born into an Amish community and brought up in Kansas, Ervin Stutzman has published several books, both theological and stories of his own heritage.
