Emil Chynn, Emil Chynn New York, Emil Chynn NY

Dr. Emil Chynn is providing a scholarship to one current teacher of English in the country of Ukraine, an attending ophthalmologist with completed residency from Ukraine, or a young business professional from Ukraine. This young professional should be in their late 20s or early 30s. Also, they should have completed their MBA and want to improve their English.

Chynn has been to Ukraine seven times over the past 15 years. He has lectured about LASEK at many leading eye hospitals and clinics in several major cities in the country. Chynn has also had several Refractive Fellows from Kiev work at his clinic in New York City for the past two years.

Dr. Chynn has agreed to present a scholarship to one current teacher of English in Ukraine, where he or she would spend two months in New York City. This teacher would be teaching English as well as serve as his secretary. This teacher must be fluent in English at an exceptional level.

This English teacher and the personal assistant would be provided with free housing in the studio apartment. They would work every day of the work week and interact with patients by helping check the patients in and out at the front desk. Therefore, the intern must be well-dressed, well-mannered with a friendly and open demeanor.

This scholarship is a once-in-a-lifetime chance for an English teacher in Ukraine to spend two months in New York City.

They will improve his or her English by being exposed to native English speakers for a work week. And have their airfare and housing paid for entirely. If they do an outstanding job, Dr. Chynn will also provide pay for living expenses. Each of Dr. Chynn's previous scholarship winners has received these stipends.

Dr. Chynn will tour select English schools in Kiev, Kharkov, and Liviv this spring. He will answer any inquiries current teachers have about this program, as well as any questions about growing up in New York City. He will also answer questions about his schooling at Dartmouth, Columbia, Harvard, and Emory. Additionally, Dr. Chynn will answer questions about life in the United States in general. He will make sure each applicant for the scholarship will become comfortable with the thought of working in the United States.

Dr. Chynn has traveled mostly in Ukraine and currently has a Refractive Fellow, Tetiana Dovzhuk, who is from Kiev. Also, this fellow worked at the most significant laser vision correction center in Ukraine for many years. Dr. Dovzhuk has set up a sequence of lectures for Dr. Chynn to give in Ukraine over the years.

The Chynn Family Foundation was established in 2005 to help support institutional initiatives all over the world. They have also donated $300,000 over the past five years to set up scholarships at Columbia and Fordham universities in New York City.

Dr. Chynn attended Dartmouth College, then received his Medical Degree from Columbia University. He then concluded his residency in ophthalmology at Harvard University and his fellowship in Corneal Transplantation & Refractive Surgery at Emory University. Dr. Chynn now owns Park Avenue LASEK, the largest LASEK eye surgery center in New York, runs the most extensive Refractive Fellowship program in the United States and has had interns from 20 countries.

Providing scholarships is not the only charity work Dr. Chynn takes part in throughout the years.

Also, Dr. Chynn donates one LASEK every year to a worthy organization. He has raised $100,000 over the years for different charities in this fashion. These donations include groups as varied as the Dartmouth Club of New York, the Mt. Sinai Medical Student Free Community Health Clinic, V-Day (prevents violence against women), Pups for Peace (train bomb-sniffing dogs to work in Israel), and the Haitian Hurricane Relief.
