Elie Hirschfeld Runs United Airlines NYC Half Marathon
Elie Hirschfeld, President of Hirschfeld Properties, ran the United Airlines NYC Half Marathon on March 20, 2016, in 2 hours, 43 minutes and 14 seconds. The run raised needed funds for Team for Kids and the philanthropies supported by the Elie Hirschfeld Foundation.
New York, NY, March 23, 2016 (Newswire.com) - Philanthropist and Hirschfeld Properties president Elie Hirschfeld ran the United Airlines NYC Half Marathon on March 20, 2016. The 13.1 mile race around Manhattan, organized by the New York Road Runners, took place despite the seasonally cold weather. Hirschfeld finished the race in 2 hours, 43 minutes, and 14 seconds, keeping an average mile time of 12 minutes and 28 seconds. He placed 83rd for his age group.
Hirschfeld dedicated his race to two organizations that is involved with; the Elie Hirschfeld Foundation and Team for Kids. Team for Kids raises funds on behalf of the New York Road Runners to promote healthier lifestyles for children across the country by engaging them in running. The Elie Hirschfeld Foundation, founded by Hirschfeld, supports institutions and initiatives focused on education, athletics, healthcare, and Jewish causes. "Runs such as these not only encourage me to be healthier, but help younger people appreciate healthy lifestyles and activities. It is so important for kids to be taught early how to take better care of their health," Hirschfeld said.

Hirschfeld greatly enjoyed the race itself, noting that it was “lots of fun.” He particularly enjoyed running past several properties he owned or developed. "It is with a sense of pride that I run through the City and pass some of the buildings we developed, and to know that we have have contributed in a small way to this unforgettable New York skyline," Hirschfeld said.
