EdgeWave Joins San Diego Cyber Center of Excellence

EdgeWave's CEO, Steve Kelley, also elected to the CCOE Board of Directors

EdgeWave® Inc., a next-generation email security provider, today announced that it has joined the San Diego Cyber Center of Excellence (CCOE). The CCOE is a non-profit organization dedicated to accelerating the region’s cyber economy and positioning it as a global hub of cyber innovation.

With its multi-layered Email Security Platform, EdgeWave delivers unparalleled inbox protection from today’s exploding messaging threats like phishing, spoofing, business email compromise and more. According to the 2018 Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report, email continues to be the most common vector for cyber attacks (96 percent), with phishing and pretexting representing 98 percent of social incidents and 93 percent of breaches.

At the core of EdgeWave’s email security solutions is ThreatTest®, an automated inbox detection and response solution that uses machine learning and expert human review to quickly catch, analyze and resolve suspicious emails. This unique approach dramatically reduces targeted attacks, while also significantly lowering dwell times and costs spent by IT investigating and recovering from email incidents.

“We are excited to join San Diego’s Cyber Center of Excellence and contribute to its mission of creating new business opportunities and fostering innovation and collaboration in the cybersecurity industry,” said EdgeWave CEO Steve Kelley. “In addition, I am honored to be elected to the organization’s board of directors and look forward to helping build a stronger, more resilient cybersecurity community in the region.”

Mr. Kelley joins the CCOE board as a cybersecurity veteran with more than 20 years of experience in the enterprise security and software industries. Prior to joining EdgeWave as CEO in 2018, Mr. Kelley was chief marketing officer and worldwide sales leader at Trustwave. Mr. Kelley was instrumental in helping Trustwave reposition itself as a global leader in the managed security service provider market, culminating in industrywide recognition as a global leader and the successful sale of the company to Singtel.

“We are honored to welcome Steve Kelley, CEO of EdgeWave to CCOE’s Board of Directors,” said RADM (ret.) Ken Slaght, chair and president of CCOE. “CCOE convenes the brightest minds in the industry, government and academic community to not just identify challenges and opportunities facing the cyber industry, but to roll up our sleeves and collaboratively move the needle.”

The CCOE recently commissioned a cybersecurity economic impact analysis and workforce study that identifies San Diego as a hub for cybersecurity talent, jobs and opportunity. With more than 150 cyber firms and over 8,000 cyber jobs in San Diego, the CCOE is well positioned to be an advocate and resource for this growing community.
