Pricewaterhouse Coopers, one of the four major international accounting firms, has published the latest survey of global multichannel retailing on March 28. The survey shows that about 70 percent of mainland respondents went shopping once a week, the number in the U.S. and the UK are just about 40%, while the proportion of European consumers is only about 20%. Managing Partner of the PwC China and Asia Pacific retail and consumer goods industries Yu Ye Jia li said that retailers would consider carefully about what roles physical stores are going to play in the future.

The survey showed that the Chinese online shoppers has got access to online shopping only for a short time, but compared to other market shoppers, their frequency of shopping is the highest, and they feel better about themselves. among all of the respondents, 85% of people feel they've already became experienced veterans.

Miss Ye also indicated that China's online shopping market has become much more mature than before. Retailors should consider what role their own stores are going to play in the future. She thought that the usage of physical store may end up in two extremes results-firstly; it will become a place to try or get to know the new product, consumers will be able to experience the unique charm of a brand; secondly, the terminal process of online shopping and a trading places.

The status of physical bookstore already sounded the alarm for the challenges future physical store may have to face. The survey showed that about 60-65% of all respondents consumers in Mainland China prefer to buy clothing, footwear, books, music and movies online. Consumers' online shopping habits will continue to erode the revenue of the store; online shopping mall is a trend.

Faced with such a huge market, third-party payment has also have seized the chance and stepped up in the relevant aspects of product development and customer support in online payment. Some payment companies like PayPal and GlobeBill (www.globebill.com) have introduced measures to maximize the interests of its clients and minimize the risk. With the support of third party enterprise, online shopping will continue develop with a strong momentum.
