East Bay Local to Be Next World Champion of Public Speaking?
Online, June 3, 2014 (Newswire.com) - East Bay local, James Jeffley, will be competing August 20-23rd in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for the impressive title "World Champion of Public Speaking." The contest is held by public speaking club Toastmasters International, which Jeffley has been a member of since October of 2013. He will compete against approximately 90 other speakers from around the world - each performing an original speech.
Lola Pratt, President of Jeffley's home club, East Bay Toastmasters, and certified Advanced Communicator Bronze and Advanced Leader Bronze says "Winning is good, but the journey as a Toastmaster is the real prize."
Jeffley would be the 15th winner to come from California since the contest began in 1938, but the first from the San Francisco Bay Area. East Bay Toastmasters meets in Oakland on Monday evenings and always welcomes new members. In an effort to fund Jeffley's trip, which has a goal of $12,000 - the club has set up an online donation page at http://www.gofundme.com/95aaaw
