Earthling Security Approved as StateRAMP Third Party Assessment Organization
TYSONS CORNER, Va., April 1, 2021 (Newswire.com) - Earthling Security, LLC (Earthling Security) has been approved as a StateRAMP Third Party Assessment Organization (3PAO). StateRAMP is an independent, non-profit organization that helps ensure the cybersecurity of vendors and service providers at the state and local government level. As a StateRAMP 3PAO, Earthling Security will help governments ensure that third-party vendors are compliant with National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) cybersecurity standards.
NIST Special Publication (SP) 800-53 outlines the required cybersecurity measures for federal computer networks. StateRAMP, initially established in May 2020, helps state and local governments evaluate their cloud providers to confirm that they meet NIST SP 800-53 guidelines. According to its website, StateRAMP "stores, maintains, and publishes the security status of cloud service providers." It provides state and local governments with a centralized resource for accessing cybersecurity certifications. Verifying compliance with recommended cybersecurity standards allows government entities to continue using third-party cloud service providers while still operating within federal regulations.
