Dr. Gloria Mayfield Bank Is Keynote Speaker for Maryland DECA Career Development Conference in Annapolis
Online, March 12, 2014 (Newswire.com) - The Maryland Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) Career Development Conference will be held March 13th 2014 at the Annapolis Doubletree Hotel located at 210 Holiday Ct, Annapolis, MD 21401, and will feature keynote speaker Dr. Gloria Mayfield Banks. The event will bring together approximately 350 high school students from across Maryland with aspirations in business. The theme for this year's conference is "MAKE IT COUNT," Dr. Banks will speak to students on to setting career goals and making each day count toward reaching their goals.
Dr. Banks overcame dyslexia, domestic violence, and a painful divorce, to obtain a MBA from Harvard University and became a multi-millionaire entrepreneur with Mary Kay Cosmetics, recording over 8 million in earnings. She holds an honorary doctorate in Public Service & Humane Letters from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Gloria joined Mary Kay Cosmetics in 1988. As a single mother of 2, she began her record-breaking ascent to Elite Executive National Sales Director faster than anyone in the company's 50-year history. Gloria is 1 of only 3 women who currently hold this position in the entire United States.
