Dr. Anton Gunn Was The Keynote Speaker At Joining Forces For A Better Health 2011
Online, September 7, 2011 (Newswire.com) - On last month, Joining Forces for a Better Health 2011 event, took place at the Hyatt Regency Bonaventure Hotel & Spa in the city of Weston.
The event aimed to create awareness about everyone responsibility on fighting childhood obesity, as a national growing problem. Dr. Anton Gunn, Regional Director from the US Department of Health & Human Services was the keynote speaker in representation of the US Surgeon General, Vice Admiral Dr. Regina Benjamin and gave to attendants information from a nationwide perspective.
In the same way, Dr. Lillian Rivera, Administrator from the Miami-Dade County Health Department, was the remark speaker in representation of the Florida State Surgeon General, Dr. Frank Farmer; she gave to the audience a Florida State perspective of the problem focusing in some actions and suggestions about solving this problem. The Opening Remarks was given by Dr. Paula Thaqi, Director of the Broward County Health Department and the Masters of Ceremony were Mrs. Maria Soldani from Soldani Group and Dr. Ronald Giffler from FirstPath Lab.
The event counted with the participation of healthcare organizations from Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties as well as a massive public tri-county representation. Some of the present healthcare organization were US Department of Health & Human Services, Broward County Health Department, Miami-Dade County Health Department, South Florida Hospital and Healthcare Association, UnitedHealthcare, FirstPath Lab, Tenet South Florida, Memorial Hospital Miramar, Vitas, Molina Healthcare, BlueCross BlueShield of Florida, New York Life, Catholic Hospice, March of Dimes, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society among some others.
