Dopplerdave Issues Giant Warning For This Hurricane Season Because Of Iceland Volcano
Online, April 21, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Dopplerdave.com is warning of an active upcoming hurricane season and points to the Iceland volcano as a reason. Meteorologist Dave Roberts, aka Dopplerdave says "the Iceland Volcano is pushing up so much debris into the atmosphere, this will impact the coming months of weather, especially hurricane season." Westerly and northerly winds are directly impacting Europe at this time. However, as we shift toward summer, prevailing westerly winds will transport the large volumes of dust and ash around the world in the middle and high altitudes. "We cannot ignore the fact that this extra amount of debris in the atmosphere will act as a focal mechanism for condensation in just about all areas north of the equator." There has been little prediction on the volcano itself, so quantifying the impact on hurricane season is impossible right now, but after coming off one of the coldest winters in Southeastern U.S. history and now adding this variable, we could be in for a different type of active hurricane season. "My main thought now is that hurricanes that do form will be slow movers and larger storms than the typical pattern in season we would expect", says Doppler Dave Roberts. Condensation nuclei is the technical term that defines what all rain droplets form on. The debris from the Volcano may act similar to dust from Africa's Sahara Desert. This dust blows into the eastern Atlantic where storms develop. Moisture rises and clings to these dust particles. Dopplerdave has been heard discussing this problem with Randy in the morning on Sunny 106.3 FM radio in Fort Myers, Florida. There is no point debating the issue now, as time will tell.
