Don Chalmers Ford Proud to Support Nationally Recognized SYNC Technology

Don Chalmers Ford offers new and used cars with nationally recognized Ford SYNC technology recently inducted into the Computer History Museum.

Four years after making its initial debut in the 2008 Ford Focus, the original Ford SYNC has been inducted into the Computer History Museum at California's Silicon Valley in Mountain View, California. Sitting alongside technological artifacts such as the AntiKythera Mechanism and the Atanasoff-Berry Computer, the award-winning Ford SYNC currently provides a successful in-car connectivity system in more than four million cars currently on the road.

Powered by Windows Embedded Automotive software platform, the Ford SYNC has continued to add services and technology since its successful 2008 launch. Those technologies include the 911 assist, vehicle health report, Sync services such as the GPS-based local search and navigation, as well as additional features including the Destinations smartphone application and AppLink that employs the Sync voice control to navigate and manage other smartphone applications.

"We are honored. SYNC has helped us move faster than what is usually assumed of an automaker, providing a new level of openness and access that has forever changed how we look at our business and respond to our customers," said Ford Research and Innovation chief technical officer and vice president Paul Mascarenas. "Ultimately, SYNC embodies what Ford is all about: going further to transform innovative ideas into products that are affordable, attainable and valuable to millions of people."

What began as a discussion between Ford Executive Chairman Bill Ford and former Microsoft CEO Bill Gates in 2005 at the Microsoft Global Automotive Summit, this revolutionary technological design changed the way drivers navigate and paved the way for next generation of embedded vehicle features. While currently used by 4 million cars today, Ford expects that number to increase to 9 million once the technology is introduced into products worldwide.

Don Chalmers Ford is proud to sell a large quantity of SYNC enabled new and used cars at their Albuquerque, NM dealership.
