DKBinnovative's Cyber Security Roundtable Features Tips for Keeping Cyber Safe in Volatile Times

Keith Barthold

Dallas businesses wanting to keep computer savvy and cyber safe amid the growing climate of hacks, ransomware and security breaches had the opportunity to learn about the latest tips and technology facing organizations at a Jan. 17, 2018, cyber security roundtable, “Cyber Threats Facing Businesses in 2018.”

“It was a wonderful opportunity to sit down with local business leaders from various industries to have an open, frank discussion about digital security, something that we at Strasburger & Price take an active role in on behalf of our clients,” said Kim Moore, partner at Strasburger & Price LLP.

This was a great kickoff for our event series, which we see as anti-seminars where we will hold candid discussions about crucial issues facing small to medium-sized businesses. Our goal is to provide real answers to real issues and we certainly accomplished that.

“With data security of our Fortune 500 clients being of the utmost concern, this event provided a unique opportunity for me to ask questions, present challenges and get real answers from a top expert,” said participant Yaron Meerfeld, CEO of Gateway Architects.

The luncheon roundtable, sponsored by Dallas-based DKBinnovative, featured the latest information on current cyber threats and their impact on small and medium-sized businesses. Featured speaker Senthil Kumar, director of AT&T Business Solutions Digital Services, discussed the types and magnitude of cyber threats facing businesses today and provided practical advice for combating threats while balancing the convenience for business owners.

“Most business owners don’t understand the urgency of cyber threats today, nor do they think they’ll ever be affected by them,” Kumar said. “The reality is that one out of three individuals has been hacked and they don’t even know it. Perhaps even more staggering is that 60 percent of small businesses go out of business within six months of a cyber attack.”

The Jan. 17 roundtable was the inaugural event in what will be a quarterly series. Future topics to be covered will include HIPAA compliance and best practices for handling sensitive data.

“Senthil shared some very effective information and practical solutions regarding an issue that couldn’t be more timely,” said Keith Barthold, CEO of DKBinnovative. “This was a great kickoff for our event series, which we see as anti-seminars where we will hold candid discussions about crucial issues facing small to medium-sized businesses. Our goal is to provide real answers to real issues and we certainly accomplished that.”
