DirectWomen Presents Program At NAWL Annual Meeting On July 24 In New York City

Organization Formed To Position Women Lawyers To Serve On Boards Of Public Companies Presents Program At The National Association of Women Lawyers Annual Meeting

DirectWomen, an organization formed to position women lawyers to serve on public company boards, will present a program at the National Association of Women Lawyers Annual Meeting & Awards Luncheon at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City on July 24. Panelists will discuss the importance of board diversity and offer strategies to increase women’s representation in the boardroom.

The program moderator for Women in the Boardroom: Advancing Women Lawyers into Director Positions is Hillary Sale, Co-Chair of the DirectWomen Institute and Walter D. Coles Professor of Law and Professor of Management at Washington University School of Law in St. Louis. Sale is an expert on and frequent speaker to industry and academic audiences about corporate governance, securities regulation, and leadership.

Panelists are distinguished women lawyers who are involved with DirectWomen. Mary Ann Hynes, an alumna of the DirectWomen Board Institute, is Senior Counsel at Dentons LLP and serves as a director of GHD Group Pty Ltd. Roberta Liebenberg, Senior Partner at Fine, Kaplan and Black, R.P.C., is Chair of DirectWomen and also Chair of the ABA Commission on Women in the Profession. Elisse Walter, an alumna of the DirectWomen Board Institute, is the former Chair of the Securities and Exchange Commission and serves on the Boards of Directors of Occidental Petroleum Corporation and the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board.
