Womenswear Trends for Summer 2018 from Design Info

Color, style and trend forecast company Design Info sees the following five trends ahead in womenswear:

Fresh Romantics

Extensive brands research and consumer demand have given rise to the compilation of the top fashion trends for summer 2018. Presented to you, in brief, the latest womenswear trends for fashion, style and colours. Colour trends play an important role in the manufacturing of womenswear apparels. Trend forecasting is needed in every brand since the concepts on fashion are dynamic and future patterns must be analysed before branding the trends.

Many collections are feminine and girly this season. Nostalgic looks, which reinterpret the '30s to '50s, are unmistakable rejuvenated by ironic quotes. Wallpaper patterns, cross-dressing and the collage composition of product groups make the styles look young and lively. The most important stylistic features are the classic shirt blouse dress and hot pants, which are often matched with blazers. Naive flower patterns, Vichy checks and embroidery are big-time. Romantic dresses with knit lace and pleats or skirts are other important must-haves.

Jungle Fever

Rarely have we seen so many safari interpretations in one summer season. Sometimes preppy, sometimes avant-garde and often enriched with sporty elements, Safari is omnipresent. Ethnic inspirations loosen up the topic, presenting a new, charming and feminine allure. Dresses are wider and worn midi to maxi length. We often find kaftan quotes with layering solutions. Jackets and coat forms are also often over-sized and have macro pockets, bars and belts. Playful ruffle and motifs loosen up the firm look, as well as the use of coarse-knit and artisan crochet.

Beach Trip

Preppy, smart and young is this casual leisure topic. It thrives from sporty influences, maritime inspirations and a puristic basic silhouette. Body-tight, athletic-looking jersey dresses juxtapose with comfortable blousons and trench shapes. Suits have a casual fit, often with cropped trousers. Knits look young and fresh with maritime motifs, stripes or statement fonts. Experimental blouse solutions, such as cut-outs, crimping and string closures, adorn the often-asymmetrical pieces.

Casual Contrast

The trousers follow the silhouette ending with a wide hemline. The top parts — whether blazer, vest or caftan — are always voluminous and gladly provided with pockets, press buttons or cord decorations. Cargo pockets are also a must-have. Another focus is the over-cut shirt-dresses that have the main focus on drawstring waistlines, which give a ruffled blouse optic feel.

Linen & Raffia

Natural materials such as cotton and leather are modified using extravagant and artificial surfaces combinations. Cloque, synthetic gloss surfaces and thermo-fixed micro pleats give them a new look. Modified paisleys, graphical ethnic designs and abstract flower motifs rejuvenate the look, as well as coloured leather.

Mood Boards - Sporty Colours

The cheerful and fresh range of colours gets us in the mood for summer. New green tones form the basis for this smart, but casual theme. An intense emerald green, pastels mint face and a bold orange are the key colours to look for in summer 2018. The ascents are soothed and enhanced by matching a fresh hard white and creamy, light nougat tone. This creates interesting combinations that move between clean and sporty and even brings out romantic looks using appropriate designs.

Fashion Trends are obtained after minute analysis of several fashion shows globally, trade events, market demand, top designer collections and a wide catwalk survey. Our team of 40 fashion designers are continuously surveying and compiling the trends in the form of trendsetting style and colour trend books, thus making it presentable.
