DesertedRoad Studios CEO Joshua Davis Joins Board for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Benefit Golf Invitational
Online, July 12, 2010 (Newswire.com) - ATLANTA, GA - No other place in the world supports children's cancer research like St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Children undergoing long-term treatment often become depressed and cease to respond positively to therapy. The Target House is a unique facility providing a "home style" living environment for patients receiving treatments ranging from 90 days to 3 years. Insurance and foundations do not fund well-being activities; therefore, the Target House relies on private fundraising and contributions to support the "feel good" activities that contribute greatly to recovery.
Started last year, the Golf for the Kids Annual Invitational Golf Tournament was created to fund those additional activities that facilitate the recovery of the children. Angela Rehkop (www.AngieRehkop.com), Chairman of the Board and St. Jude Children's Hospital volunteer, shares why she began the golf tournament. "It only took one afternoon volunteering for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to recognize the need for funding activities that support the emotional well-being for long-term patients," says Rehkop.
Hosting top executives throughout the Atlanta area, an event of this stature required solid marketing with professional presentation. Board member Mark McKenzie of Docqmax Digital Printing (www.Docqmax.com) explains why the board asked Joshua Davis to join the tournament's leadership team. "Joshua was selected and asked to serve as a board member of Golf for the Kids based on his leadership and involvement and activities in the local community. Joshua possesses the experience, knowledge and skills needed to help our fundraising efforts; and, with his support and that of his company, DesertedRoad Studios (www.DesertedRoad.com), we have the needed tools and resources to help with our web site, social media and marketing campaign. With this help, we feel our board will be able to achieve our goals of a successful and enjoyable golf tournament for all participants involved while reaching the ultimate goal of raising money for the children at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital," says McKenzie.
"I feel it is a privilege to serve these children and facilitate as much of a joyful experience through their treatments and recoveries as possible. I also believe that, as one who has been blessed with so much, it is my responsibility to take every opportunity to give back to those who need it most," says Davis.
