Defigo, a Norwegian PropTech leader within mobile, as a service access control designed for multifamily, commercial, and student housing properties, today announced $4.4m in new funds from new and existing investors as it prepares to scale operations and help its customers to increase efficiency and sustainability of their real estate assets. The company plans to use the new funds to accelerate growth in North America and expand its operations in Northern Europe.

Defigo offers a cloud-based, as a service access control solution that can be integrated with any existing building infrastructure, allowing building owners and managers in multifamily residentials and commercial real estate to digitize their access control without spending any money to replace what they are already using. As it scales its operation to more countries, Defigo will be able to help more international customers to increase efficiency in managing their real estate portfolio and to reach their sustainability goals, by saving up to five tons of CO2 emissions per building.

"With the European taxonomy in force and similar regulatory requirements in other countries and states, such as Local Law 97 in New York state, coming in the near future, we aim to support our customers by not only providing them with a modern solution for key-free access and mobile access control, but also help them with their contribution to climate change by extending the lifetime of the access systems they have in their buildings,"  says Defigo CEO Hildur Smaradottir. "Most legacy access control solutions are robust and although somewhat outdated, they can be modernized and made to last much longer by simply implementing a digital solution such as Defigo. This gives property managers and real estate owners a sustainable alternative to installing a new solution in their buildings while also giving tenants and occupants a modern, key-free access to the buildings they live and work in."

For new builds, the Defigo solution is a green alternative that streamlines building administration across multiple properties, offers raw materials savings, savings on cabling and installation costs, and significantly reduces the need for transport related to access control and eliminates the need for traditional keys, RFID tags, and plastic access cards.

With initial partner channel agreements in place in the U.S., the company is ready to accelerate growth and open millions of doors in the United States and across Northern Europe in 2022. "Our new partners recognize that the Defigo solution is unique in the access control as a service market. They are keen to offer the solution to their customers as a user-friendly, key-free and importantly, green, alternative to traditional systems. Together with our partners, we have ambitious goals for Defigo in the United States," says Bob Moore, a veteran from the professional security market and Defigo's U.S. Country Manager.

Participating in this pre-series A funding round are new Norwegian investors OPF Pension fund, MP Pension fund, an undisclosed family office as well as existing investors Idekapital, Norway's largest Venture Capital firm, PKH Pension fund and a real estate investor, Nunchi.
