David Sanguesa, Building His Career in the Construction Industry

David Sanguesa graduated in 1986 with a Bachelor's in Psychology. Little did he know what his future will bring. However, as David got older, he learned he didn't want to work in the mental health field after graduation, despite his degree. While trying to support himself as a student, David found out that he likes his part-time job in the construction industry a little bit too much, and that a job in the construction industry is easier to find and maintain than one in the mental health industry.

After graduation, David Sanguesa realized that his passion lies in the construction industry. However, his brave decision to leave his degree behind and sail to unknown waters was rewarded decades later. He never guessed that his decision would lead him to oversee the construction of President George Bush.

David Sanguesa is particularly proud of overseeing the construction of the president’s home not only because it opened many doors for him, but also because this particular project was a matter of life and death for the company he was working for. Tanglewood Homes was close to bankruptcy and the successful completion of this particular project would have saved the company and offered a great deal of positive publicity.

The project was indeed successfully completed and David is now proud to say that he contributed to keeping a company alive and saving many jobs. His contribution to the huge project of the home of President George Bush wasn't a matter a luck. It took David decades of hard work to earn a positive reputation that helped him land the project. He showed perseverance right after graduation and jumped into the construction industry head first.

Soon after he graduated, David Sanguesa focused on earning his certification from the Texas Estate Commission. His next move was applying to the Pulte Home Corporation as a Construction Manager. Here, David managed to impress his superiors with his uncanny ability to communicate with the workers and as well as implement his effective techniques. Soon after he was hired, David managed to stand out using his ingeniosity on the construction site. This made his bosses confident that he is capable of bigger tasks too.

At the Pulte Home Corporation, he was also in charge of hiring subcontractors and superintendents, a responsibility that was made easier by his knowledge of human behavior. Thanks to his college studies and natural talent, David found it easy to solve problems and figure it out his employer's need.

His list of achievements doesn’t end here. At some point, David Sanguesa was overseeing the construction of six hundred homes during 12 months. His work ethic pushed his achievements list even further when he occupied a similar role for two years at David Weekley Homes.

He describes his experience at the David Weekly Homes as extremely rewarding since he believes his second best achievement also happened during the brief period he worked at this company.

After being in charge for even larger projects and overseeing the development of 1100 homes, while dealing with the marketing and modeling of homes, he won both the Top Builder award and the “Best Finisher” award twice each.

David Sanguesa believes that these achievements gave him the confidence to pursue his most ambitious dreams and work on the most exciting projects. After receiving his awards, he worked for the Renaissance Builders and then collaborated with Tanglewood Homes, where he finally had the opportunity to oversee the construction of President George Bush's home.

The road of the psychology graduate who entered in the construction industry spanned over decades. But his hard work and passion for excellence helped David become an authoritative figure in his field and fulfill his dreams. David believes that the secret to a successful career in the construction industry is perpetually impressing your clients with amazing results and building a powerful portfolio.
