Benfitting Lauren's Kids and the David Posnack JCC

Run start

On Sunday, Jan. 30, 2022, the David Posnack Jewish Community Center and Lauren's Kids will be hosting the Be A Hero-Run4Kids 5k Run/Walk at the JCC's 40-acre Davie campus, bringing people together from all walks of life.

The 5k Run-Walk and Wheelchair Race / Kids 1 Mile Fun Color Run-Walk will start at 8 a.m., with registration beginning at 6:30 a.m. and a free post-race Health and Wellness Fair until 11 a.m. The run is a USATF certified course that will begin on the DPJCC campus and head south, wrapping around the Monterra Community, and then returning back to the JCC campus. Professionally timed by AccuChip Timing, the run will be monitored and managed by volunteers and staff of DPJCC and Lauren's Kids, who will provide water, bagels, fruit, and other various healthy snacks. The Broward Sheriff Office will also be on site, making sure the course is safe and easily accessible for everyone.

All runners and walkers are encouraged to register in advance. This event offers a plethora of free activities for kids of all ages and parents, too. Activities include a fun color run finale, bounce house, giant obstacle course, pool, splash pad, face painting, live DJ, and many other activities. Participants can come dressed as a favorite superhero and pick up their race packets starting Friday, January 28, or on race day. Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals will be awarded to the top three male and female runners in each division. The event is dog-friendly, so tail-waggers can also come dressed as a favorite superhero and enter for a chance to win the pet costume contest.

The event has been made possible by our generous corporate sponsors Ronald L. Book, PA, Gold Coast Beverage, Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital, PepsiCo, Cleveland Clinic Florida, Kelley Kronenberg, Kleen1, Eisinger Law, Priority Lending, Kalis, Kleiman & Wolfe, Automated HealthCare Solutions, Salons by JC, Kofsky Weinger PA, Dade Media, Comcast, Clear Chanel Outdoor and many others. All proceeds benefit the JCC's Giborim United program, which includes enrichment classes and summer camp for children, teens, and adults with developmental disabilities, as well as Lauren's Kids programs which educates adults and children about child sexual abuse prevention through in-school curricula, awareness campaigns, and speaking engagements.
