David Cohen brings his unique mix of classical and flamenco
guitar to the Midtown Scholar's 2014 On The Main Stage series. David's
thirty-five year music career has focused on classical and traditional music
from various cultures studied on original instruments. The July 26th
show will include the Chinese Pipa and the Highland Bagpipes along with the
guitar.
The CD DAVID COHEN: GUITAR was released in 2012, which contains
11 original compositions written by Cohen. The music on DAVID COHEN: GUITAR was
written in the first year after the loss of his wife Tanya to ovarian cancer.
Though in memory to his wife the music is not mournful but quite the opposite.
The music is a celebration of life. Cohen is recording his second CD that will
be released in October 2014. David's guests on July 26th will hear music
from both first CD and the upcoming second release.

David picked up the guitar after hearing the guitar playing
of Joan Armatrading. David worked as a baker and developed his skills to become
a Pastry Chef while developing his chops on the guitar. David's teaching studio
Guitar Point opened in 1995 and is located in both Ocean Grove, NJ and
Philadelphia. David studies have also included the Turkish oud and saz, the Puerto
Rican quarto along with the Chinese pipa, Highland bagpipes and guitar.
