Dapper Motorcyclists Raise $5.8m USD for Charity and Counting
NEW YORK, October 3, 2018 (Newswire.com) - The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride: Sunday, Sept. 30, 2018, the streets thumped and heads turned to the sound of over 112,000 classic and vintage style motorcycles rallying together in aid of raising awareness and support of prostate cancer and men’s mental health on behalf of the Movember Foundation.
Close to 1 million men lose their lives annually from prostate cancer and suicide, so once again, The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride called on the community to stop men from dying too young.
Within the first 8 weeks of fund-raising leading up to this highly anticipated global event, registered fundraisers managed to raise $5.8M USD for vital research and support programs. 2018 has already proven to be the greatest year yet; with the highest amount raised, greatest number of participants, and most cities hosting rides globally, 2018 has gone down as the most incredible year ever seen in the event’s short history.
With competitions ending on Sunday, Oct. 14, 11:59 p.m. UTC ±00:00, and fund-raising coming to an end on Oct. 30, there is still time for all participants to make that final push to reach out goal and go in the running to win prizes courtesy of Triumph Motorcycles, Zenith Watches, REV’IT!, and Hedon Helmets.
A Word From The Founder, Mark Hawwa
“On Sunday, Sept. 30, 112,000 people came together to change the world. Their passion could be felt throughout 650 cities, across 102 countries, and the $5.8M USD of funds they raised for groundbreaking prostate cancer research and male suicide prevention will be felt for years to come. Beyond this achievement, they showed millions of onlookers that as riders, they don’t need to live by the traditionally negative stereotypes often perceived. From Zimbabwe to NYC, the spectacle stopped people in their tracks, dropped jaws, grabbed the attention of camera-wielding pedestrians and the elated waves of their children, as the most dapper mix of magnificent motorcycles, and sartorial styles rolled on by.”
