CycleGuard Battery Separator for PSoC Applications is Introduced by Hollingsworth & Vose
Online, September 21, 2010 (Newswire.com) - CycleGuard(TM) battery separator (http://hollingsworth-vose.com/cycleguard), the first separator media designed exclusively for highly demanding partial state of charge (PSoC) applications, was introduced today by Hollingsworth & Vose (H&V).
"CycleGuard, H&V's next-generation EnergyGuard® battery separator, sets new standards of performance for PSoC applications such as SLI start-stop, telecommunications, and grid storage. This high-strength, uniform separator increases a battery's cycle life by up to 20% under PSoC conditions while providing dramatically better charge acceptance," said Bob Cullen, vice president of sales and marketing in H&V's battery products business unit.
CycleGuard battery separator media improves battery performance with a new proprietary synthetic glass technology. Its greater acid capacity, increased surface area, and exceptional media strength ensure longer battery life, plus the new separator's high-strength AGM enables rapid processing and better puncture resistance.
"Our new separator's patented technical properties increase the number of charge cycles over an extended battery life. They also improve the ability of the battery to cycle without charging. Batteries with this separator will perform significantly longer with a continued robust cycle rate," Cullen said.
CycleGuard enhances charge acceptance capability over conventional AGM separators, and the battery's ability to cycle without receiving a complete charge is dramatically improved. In addition, with CycleGuard, more of the battery's capacity will return when charging from a dead battery state.
"Demanding applications, such as stop-start vehicle systems, require batteries to deliver power and accept charges at unprecedented rates. CycleGuard's unique design is strong enough to handle the most extreme cycling conditions," Cullen said.
CycleGuard battery separator will be available for delivery in mid-October 2010. For more information, visit http://hollingsworth-vose.com/cycleguard, e-mail cycleguard@hovo.com, or call 1-508-850-2000.
