Cummings Graduate Institute Hosts First Commencement Ceremony
Cummings Graduate Institute for Behavioral Health Studies, the only doctoral-level Institute dedicated to integrated behavioral healthcare, held its first Commencement Ceremony on Monday, December 7th, 2015, sending the inaugural class of five degree candidates out into the world as Doctors of Behavioral Health. Each new Doctor of Behavioral Health was presented with a white coat by Dr. Nicholas Cummings. NIBHQ provisional accreditation was granted to the Institute's DBH program in 2015.

This commencement ceremony took place in Phoenix, Arizona, where the Institute is located.
Each new Doctor of Behavioral Health was presented with a white coat by Founder and Chairman of the Board, Dr. Nicholas Cummings. His daughter and Institute President, Dr. Janet Cummings, hooded graduates with the traditional Doctoral Hood.

In recognition of his lifetime dedication to the field of integrated care and in honor of the founding of the Institute, Dr. Nicholas Cummings was presented with the inaugural Founder’s Award, to be awarded in future to the graduate who most embodies the “Biodyne Mindset” – finding the right approach to treating the whole person from a toolkit of options. “I look forward to watching the continued career success that Doctors of Behavioral Health enjoy and to watching our graduates grow in number. The Cummings Institute for Behavioral Health Studies Doctor of Behavioral Health Program has been awarded provisional accreditation by the National Institute of Behavioral Health Quality (NIBHQ). NIBHQ provisional accreditation was granted to the Institute’s DBH program for meeting all NIBHQ criteria for the doctoral program.
The event marks a tremendous sense of achievement for the newly minted Cummings Graduate Institute for Behavioral Health Studies and their graduates, which opened its doors to doctoral-level students in 2015. The DBH degree is designed to prepare behavioral health providers to practice in primary care settings and other medical environments as part of an interdisciplinary team. The program is fully on-line and includes courses in medical literacy, behavioral health and the Biodyne model, and entrepreneurship.
