Culinary Startup to Begin Monthly Series of Classes

Pair of Popular Classes at Santa Cruz Mission State Historic Park Lead to Monthly Offerings at Kitchen Incubator in Watsonville, CA.

Today, My Mom’s Mole, a Mexican food startup that produces a mole powder and distributes it regionally, announced that beginning in October it will be offering monthly classes on learning how to make mole in its many varieties. After successfully partnering with Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks and offering a pair of summer classes through the City of Santa Cruz Parks & Recreation Department, the startup saw a demand for this unique culinary experience.

The class, Mysteries of Mole Unlocked!, will be held on the 2nd Saturday of each month at the El Pájaro CDC Commercial Kitchen Incubator in Watsonville. Groups of 6 to 12 people will use locally sourced produce and learn the complexities of ingredients used and help prepare a meal to which each attendee can bring a guest to share in during the class’ final hour. The class is great for couples who want to cook together, groups looking for team-building activities, or budding foodies looking to expand their culinary knowledge.

“At the end of the summer classes, I saw how everyone was engaged it felt like we had known each other for a long time. Those interested should expect to learn, meet others who share in their enthusiasm for food and enjoy a great meal making one of Mexico’s culinary jewels in a very unique space—the Commercial Kitchen Incubator,” said Cesario Ruiz, founder of My Mom’s Mole.
