"Crazy Year" for Khalil Ismail
Online, January 5, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Alternative Hip Hop/Soul artist Khalil Ismail ends 2009 with a bang and starts 2010 off with a right, winning Music Aid Award for Best Male Solo Artist. Khalil was among nominees from Romania, Japan, Australia and the USA.
"To win-while being hip hop based and African American in an age where 80 percent of music coming from my genre, and unfortunately my people, is self centered, misogynistic, and vein-is honestly a surprise." - Khalil Ismail
The award comes just as Khalil releases his latest song giveaway, "Crazy Year," a reminiscent homage to the year 2009. The song and video features some of the year's most memorable moments and images. "Crazy Year" MP3 can be downloaded free at www.khalilmusic.com. In addition to winning the award for Best Male Solo Artist, Khalil was also nominated for Best Music Video for "Sometimes;" however, Australian rocker, Jamie Strange, whom Khalil beat out for Best Male Solo artist, received the Best Video nod for "Rockstar Clone."
