Saint Helena, California, April 26, 2016 (Newswire.com) - VINIUM Wine is excited to announce the launch of its new line of super premium North Coast appellation wines in their proprietary planet-friendly VINIUM “Casks” on Tuesday April 26, 2016 at 9am EST.

VINIUM is pioneering a dramatic shift in wine packaging, making super-premium wines affordable to every wine drinker in the U.S. 

“We source our wines from the finest California vineyards, blend them to perfection, and package in our planet-friendly cost saving VINIUM casks” said founder Richard Cardoza.

“Our new casks reduce our total carbon output by up to 65% while dramatically lowering our costs, allowing us to price our wines 50% less than if they were packaged in heavy glass bottles; a win-win” said Cardoza, “and as a bonus our wines stay fresh for up to six weeks after opening.”

Award winning winemaker George Bursick, formerly of Sonoma Valley’s Ferrari-Carano and       J Vineyards, crafts the wines for VINIUM from the finest vineyards of California’s North Coast regions including: Napa, Sonoma, Russian River, Carneros and Mendocino.

“Of the 4.8 billion bottles of wine purchased in the U.S. last year, 96% were consumed within 48 hours of purchase eliminating the need for costly glass bottles and corks designed in the 18th century for aging fine wine.,” added Bursick.

  • The EPA estimates that 80% of all wine bottles end up in U.S. landfills
  • The lifecycle of the 4.8 billion wine bottles consumed in 2015 added 12 billion pounds of CO2 and Chlorofluorocarbons into the atmosphere
  • The alternative package wine category is $5.4 Billion and compounding by 20% each year yet has no top shelf wines offered
