Cowan Systems, LLC Announces Planned Transition

Cowan Systems LLC recently announced staff transitions and retirements that will begin in 2022.

"We know the importance of looking ahead for our employees, our customers and our business partners so that any changes and transitions are completely seamless to the public and our stakeholders," said Joe Cowan of Cowan Systems.

Cowan Systems founder Joseph Cowan will step down as chief executive officer, effective Dec. 31, 2021, and will retain the title and role as chairman of the board of directors. In connection with this transition, Dennis Morgan will assume the role of chief executive officer and Dan Evans will take the role of president.

Founded in February 1994 with four office employees and 35 drivers, Cowan Systems has grown to more than 2,000 employees and 600 contractors.

"Joe has created an incredibly successful business and has provided many opportunities for growth," Dennis Morgan said. "We are forever grateful for his entrepreneurial spirit, leadership and tireless work ethic. He will continue to provide guidance and oversight as chairman of our company."

Morgan has been with Cowan Systems since 1978, holding many roles over the years including CFO, IT department leader, COO and most recently president.

"Dennis has truly been involved in all aspects of our business. Under Dennis's leadership, Cowan has continued to grow while embracing an environment of 'family.' Dennis is an amazing leader that all our executives look up to and rely on for advice, counsel and direction," Dan Evans said. "In his role as CEO, Dennis will continue to counsel our executive leadership team and help Joe Cowan execute our strategic decisions and goals."

Effective Jan. 1, 2022, Dan Evans will assume the role of president of Cowan Systems, overseeing the day-to-day operations of all the Cowan family businesses. Evans's career started in dispatch in 1997, and he has served in many different roles over the years including as a director, where he opened terminals in several states. He has also served as vice president of sales and operations, a leader in the company's startup logistics division, and chief administrative for Cowan Systems.

Joe Cowan says, "Dennis Morgan and Dan Evans have helped foster an environment that encourages hard work and rewards success. We have a winning culture that enables people to grow."
