"Marital and Divorce Mediation training provides skill sets that can take any family therapist's private practice to the next level. ADR training courses (alternative dispute resolution) are essential in all aspects of business. It improves interpersonal skills, heightens empathy and improves relationships that are essential to business."

Mediation has been called one of the top emerging professions, according to US News and World Report. It provides career growth opportunities, higher salaries and a quality of life that every business owner will envy.

Many couples seeking support in resolving conflict in their partnership have decided to try Marital Mediation rather than traditional couple’s therapy because of the skills mediators offer, the perspective on resolve conflict and concrete issues, and the agreements they develop with the couple on how to move forward.  Martial mediation, unlike couple’s therapy, is not an on-going process, but rather focuses on a finite period of time and goals for how to shift the current issues.

Also, couples on the verge of separation have decided to skip the costly divorce courts that come with expensive legal fees. Many of these couples are now turning to the more affordable divorce mediation, which is creating a shortage of trained mediation professionals, specifically with experience in the family therapy.

Planning Change is one of the premiere training programs for marital mediation and divorce mediation training. The organization has been featured in Inc. Magazine, Crains New York, Female Entrepreneur and Channel 11 in New York as a viable alternative to the costly litigation alternatives.

The fall semester begins on September 19th with mediation certification courses that can help therapists learn new skills that will help them expand into new business opportunities.

This training course is being led by Elizabeth Clemants – the CEO of Small Business Arbitration Center of New York and founder of Planning Change.

Clemants has more than 18 years of experience mediating conflict involving divorce, family matters, estates, small businesses and other types of disputes. She has been a certified mediation trainer for the New York State Unified Court System since 2000.

“Marital and Divorce Mediation training provides skill sets that can take any family therapist’s private practice to the next level," said Clemants. "ADR training courses (alternative dispute resolution) are essential in all aspects of business. It improves interpersonal skills, heightens empathy and improves relationships that are essential to business.”

The fall semester of Planning Change offers 100-hour long certification programs that are recognized by the New York State Unified Court System. This certificate is the first qualification needed to join a court roster.

The family therapy workshop also covers conflict resolution topics that include: 1) Family or Divorce Mediation, which trains mediators in the skill of resolving disputes and conflict in the home. 2) Small or Commercial Business Mediation, which can help professionals looking to resolve business disputes. 3) Professional Development, a program that is geared towards students interested in adding new career skill sets to help them further their career.

Students who complete the full training workshops will be invited to take an 8-week elective workshop where they receive personalized guidance in how to launch their own private practice.
