Corrosion Experts to Meet at Hilton Doha, Qatar in April!

SIPCHEM to present at the 3rd Annual Corrosion Management Summit in Qatar

Material selection for structures at plants and refineries plays a very important role in smooth operations as they are affected by breakdowns. Corrosion is one of the prime reasons of these breakdowns. Companies world over affected by corrosion spend billions of dollars for maintenance and prevention. Keeping these factors in mind, and promoting best anti - corrosion practices globally, Fleming Gulf will be organizing the third edition of its Annual Corrosion Management Summit. The conference will be held from 28 - 30 April at the Hiton Doha Hotel, Qatar and will see participation from global companies.

Dr. Mohammad Sakhawat Hussain, Head-Materials and Corrosion, R&D, at SIPCHEM is one of the key speakers at the summit. He will deliver a workshop on materials selection and protecting metallic structures in petroleum refineries and petrochemical plants on day one of the summit. Dr. Hussain will also be participating in a panel discussion on the need for corrosion knowledge management as per organizational objectives. With an extensive experience in the field, he joined SIPCHEM in R & D in 2012 and is involved in the corrosion issues arising in SIPCHEM plants. When asked about the burning issues in corrosion management affecting major plants he said, "There is a need to minimize the communication gap between the designers and the suppliers. It is time we find someone who is fit for the job and train him in the right direction as and when required."

Other speakers presenting at the summit are representing organizations like ExxonMobil, Saudi Aramco, ADCO, Hempel, Fathom Solution, Petro Rabigh, Anticorrosion Protective Systems - APS and Qatar Petroleum among others. Panel discussions, presentations and case studies will focus on topics like steps to be taken to minimize external corrosion for enhanced pipeline integrity, effective corrosion protection in offshore oil and gas installations, steps taken to measure corrosion through Risk Based Inspection (RBI), need for corrosion knowledge management as per organizational objectives and many more.

Delegates at the summit will get a chance to learn from applied techniques globally to address corrosion issues head on. The summit is being endorsed by SSPC: The Society for Protective Coatings and The Institute of Materials Finishing - IMF.
