Copa Health is Now a Certified Autism Center™, Offers Respite Care for Families

Copa Health in Mesa, Arizona, is now a Certified Autism Center™, joining a growing number of organizations in the community to become certified. This movement, which was initiated by Visit Mesa and has resulted in Mesa becoming the first-ever Autism Certified City, was adopted early on by Copa Health.

The CAC designation, granted by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES), means that staff at Copa Health who work with individuals with autism have received additional training and professional certification in that field through IBCCES to enhance their understanding and strategies when providing services to this population.

“Because Copa Health believes strongly in helping families and children with unique needs strengthen relationships and provide successful outcomes, we have partnered with Visit Mesa in offering services for families of children with autism spectrum disorders,” says Dr. Shar Najafi-Piper, CEO of Copa Health. “We strive to deliver support and resources to people throughout the community.”

Copa Health’s program Copa Connect provides specifically designed autism respite supports to allow families travel time, outings with or without their child, and the ability to participate in activities that support self-care without guilt, fear or anxiety.

For almost 20 years, IBCCES has been the industry leader in cognitive disorder training and certification for education, healthcare, and corporate professionals around the globe. IBCCES provides evidence-based training and certification programs created in conjunction with clinical experts and individuals with autism in order to provide professionals serving individuals with cognitive disorders a better understanding of what these disorders are, industry best practices, varied perspectives, and the latest research in these areas.

“IBCCES was thrilled to partner with such a valuable community leader and resource. The team at COPA Health is dedicated to serving all individuals and continues to enhance their services and their team’s expertise with professional credentials to add to their extensive depth of knowledge,” said Myron Pincomb, IBCCES Board Chairman.

IBCCES also created CertifiedAutismCenter.com as a free online resource for parents that lists certified locations and professionals. Each organization listed on the site has met Certified Autism Center™ (CAC) requirements.
