Online, May 9, 2014 (Newswire.com) - SP Jain Institute Of Management and Research (SPJIMR) recently held the convocation ceremony for the 107 students of the 2014 batch of the PGPM program. The event held on 26th April was also the convocation day for students who had completed their PGDM and PGEMP programs at SPJIMR.
Ms. Roopa Kudva, MD & CEO, CRISIL Ltd, was the Chief Guest for the event. In her address to the students, she asked students to keep away from short-term fixes, which are often tempting and encouraged them to continuously improve themselves. Talking about her own journey towards being a successful professional, she talked about the importance of business school education, which she herself had. "The most important thing I learnt was structured thinking. This is about approaching a problem by beginning with the first principles. The second thing I found very valuable about my business school education was the exposure to, and learning from, an outstanding student body," she added. That's something that instantly resonated with students of the PGPM batch, who derived a lot of learning from each other's experiences.
Dr. Sesha Iyer, Director SPJIMR took to the podium for the much-awaited Convocation address. He talked about the achievements of the institute in the last year, amidst thunderous applause. "We moved up by 2 slots in majority of the national ranking. Instead of one among the top 10, we can now say one among the top 6. This is based on our Industry connect, pedagogical innovations, spirituality as the core of leadership development, our social projects and impressive placement," he said.
Dr. Indu Niranjan, Dy. Director, PGPM, then narrated the list of achievements and accolades won by the program. One of the biggest achievements for the year was of course the fact that the batch was placed over 60 companies participating in the placement process. "The average salary was Rs.18.53 lakhs, which is an average increase of over 70% from the last drawn salary. We are proud to announce that the Program objective of Career Acceleration by leveraging previous experience has been achieved," she stated. It was definitely a statistic that had made the institute proud and had the students brimming with joy.
Dr. Niranjan's speech was followed by the oath taking ceremony, which stressed on the values of the institute that the new graduate would adhere to in their professional journeys.
Finally, it was up to Dr. Suranjan Das, Faculty Co-ordinator, SGC to offer the vote of thanks. In his inimitable style, he thanked everyone involved in making the event a spectacular success and ended the evening on a high note.
