Conquest 2012, Student Startup Competition at BITS Pilani, Invites Entries
Online, May 20, 2012 (Newswire.com) - BITS Pilani's startup challenge, Conquest, considered as one of the most popular student organized startup events in India, has started receiving entries. The competition seeks to identify the best business ideas in India and awards them with cash prizes and investment opportunities from angel investors around the globe.
Teams with new business ideas are invited to submit their applications through the event website (http://www.celbits.org/conquest/) by 30th May 2012, after which, top 35 teams selected from a jury of entrepreneurs around the world, will be invited to meet experts in their field in one hour sessions held in Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Chennai.After this, top 10 teams will present their business ideas before the investors in BITS Pilani on 18th and 19th August 2012.
This year, over Rs. 4 crore is to be won as incentives by the 10 finalists, which includes free website hosting and domain, free cloud telephony software for top three teams worth Rs. 24,000 each, Rs. 10 lakh seed fund for top 10 ideas and office space anywhere in India for select startups. Besides, there are cash prizes too for the winners and runners up.
Conquest 2012 has tied up with Aegis Centre for Entrepreneurship, Seedfund, The Hatch, Mumbai Angels, NEN, TiE and FL Ventures to provide these opportunities to its participants. Top 4 student startups from the competition also get a direct entry into the finals of TiE All Asia Business Plan Competition to be held in February 2013.
Conquest is organized by students of Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership, BITS Pilani every year since 2004 and has seen several business ideas startup after participating in the competition. All 10 finalists of last year are in business now and one of them, GharPay Pvt. Ltd. based in Hyderabad, has crossed revenues of Rs. 1 crore.
