Norwalk, CT. October 12, 2009- Confidant Solutions Inc. announced today that ConfidantTM, its technology for securely tracking and sharing vital personal information, has been added to the member benefits program of the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils (NAEPC), a leading multi-disciplinary organization of estate planning professionals. This relationship makes ConfidantTM available to NAEPC's estate planning professionals on preferential terms, enables interested professionals to serve clients with new technology, and provides clients who choose to use ConfidantTM with better tracking of estate and other vital information.
Confidant's service indexes the location of important documents and the contact information for key people, and enables users to grant access on an item by item basis to those who might need it, including siblings, children, or professional advisors such as estate planners. The concept of cataloging the whereabouts of vital documents, objects and contact information is not new - estate planners have long distributed paper questionnaires to clients. What is new is the simple web-based user interface and secure online sharing, which can be done with one's family and professional advisors.
Confidant's design employs icons and data fields which point to the location of key documents, as opposed to the more labor intensive process of scanning and storing them, and thereby also makes the information easier to keep current. Similarly, the Confidant design tracks the location of important accounts without listing the account numbers or passwords. Contact information for people with whom users would need to interact in case of emergency, and location of important physical objects, are also trackable within the system.
Security is a paramount concern for users, and Confidant has designed its system using the same technology as leading e-commerce and online banking sites, prompting founder Samuel "Sandy" Haviland to explain "if you are comfortable with online banking, you can be comfortable with us." Second priority behind security is ease of use, which lead to the icon-driven design.
"We are pleased that NAEPC has deemed Confidant to be a good fit within their member benefits," commented Haviland. "In today's complex world we certainly believe in NAEPC's multi-disciplinary approach to getting ones affairs into order, and will be happy to have their members making use of Confidant."
